A break from reality

My blog has become a rather eclectic mix of subject matter, so I thought it was about time I threw a movie review in. Except it’s not really a movie review, because that would require critical analysis and that is something I refuse to do when it comes to Sex and the City. Everyone deserves a guilty pleasure in life and this is mine.

In the trailer Lily (Charlotte’s daughter) asks “Like in Jasmine and Aladdin?” to which Carrie replies “Yes sweetie, but with cocktails” and that is exactly what SATC2 …

New York New York

I wrote this guide for my friend Iain who’s off to NYC this week, but thought I might as well blog it too. So I added in my favourite girly places (as I didn’t think Iain would be bothered about those, but you might!) I’ve tried to keep it short and sweet… but cramming a week of New York into a tiny number of words is somewhat of a challenge!
I would also like to thank my wonderful friends Liz (@LadyBowers) and Catherine for exploring the city with me on my …

Show and Tell

Today with my blogging I was tempted to get deep and meaningful about things I don’t really understand e.g. the science of missing someone. However breathe as a sigh of relief as I stick to a rather lighter topic. Collecting things.
My first major collection was badges. My favourite badge I got for my sixth birthday. It was a silver holographic badge that sparkled rainbow colours in the light with a big ‘6’ on it. I loved it. This was just the first of many things I loved that were colourful …

Geek Chic

Geek is cool! This is not a new revelation. From experience I know that owning a pair of Louboutin’s and a Mulberry bag is not mutually exclusive with getting excited about the latest developments in technology or science.
I have always been proud of my completely geeky and random interest in the most abstract of things. Even when the thirst for knowledge strikes me in the middle of the night (I once got up at 3am because I HAD to know whether Bournemouth got it name because it was the mouth …

It’s been a couple of weeks since my last update, a very hectic couple of weeks!
I just about survived my leaving parties, though my liver is thanking me for minimal alcohol drinking ever since. The hangovers weren’t pretty, but they were worth it. It was so lovely that people made the effort, and so I better make the effort to keep in touch with them now I’ve gone!

Then it was ‘The Move: Part One’ from London to Southport. Packing my stuff up took so much longer than expected and packing …

Where is all the time going?
It’s non-stop at the moment, and I’m far too excitable.
Things are going well with the job hunt (don’t want to say anymore and jinx it, I will inform you all in due course!)
I used strengthsfinder 2.0 this week, quite helpful in the job search. Knowing my strengths helps in narrowing down what I might actually enjoy doing, so I can find a career I am really passionate about! Apparently my top 5 are: Strategic, Positivity, Woo, Activator & Communication. Sounds about right to me!!!
I’m …

Well here we are at blog number three and one week closer to the big change. It’s been a week of job hunting, sorting my stuff, eBay selling, catching up with friends and trying to fit the day job in. I have now decided that moving and job hunting are two activities that should not be attempted simultaneously. I’m constantly stifling a yawn, and am looking forward to the day I can go to bed for a whole weekend to catch up on much needed sleep.
However before I do that, …
