I’m no fool

31 March 2009 No Comment

Although April 1st may be another three hours away in the UK, New Zealand is already nine hours through. And if this NZ Herald blog is anything to go by there’s some ambitious trickery out there. However I’m of the opinion that the simple yet absurd April Fools are the best. The ones that actually sound plausable to your semi-unconscious brain as you hit snooze for the third time . I have to admit it wasn’t until post-shower last year that I realised that the BBC had got me good and proper with flying penguins. (Which was additionally shameful as I have a BA (Hons) Computer Visualisation and Animation!)

I have to say I’m not the biggest fan of April Fools Day. I have always been an awful liar. On the odd occasion I have pulled off some kind of practical joke I have been so elated because I’m not sure it would ever happen again.

Despite being lame at pulling pranks I don’t think I get the wool pulled over my eyes that easily once I am up and fully awake. However that could be because until midday tomorrow I will be suspicious of anything that doesn’t seem kosher. Temporary paranoia. It’s essential for surviving the morning unscathed. My eye will be on the clock so from 12noon the paranoia can lift. After that if anyone ‘gets’ me I will respond as a mature adult by chanting  “April Fool is gone and past, you’re the bigger fool at last”.

Check out Museum of Hoaxes for some classic April Fools shenanigans. April Fools Day on the Web will keep you updated with practical jokes as they happen worldwide over the next 24 hours.
