3… 2… 1… Go!

The 2012 Olympics start three years today and I ended up listening to a debate on Radio 5 Live as @whitespider1066 spoke his views. I disagreed and decided to blog.
I remember the day we won the Olympics. It was the day of my Nan’s funeral. She died just months short of her 100th birthday. As we went to the church we were building up to the announcement and as we returned to my Aunts house we found out we had won. Even on such a day my family, over 250miles …

Spoilers?

I’m really enjoying Torchwood this week. Watching it along with thousands of fellow viewers whilst commenting on Twitter has been an interesting and rather different viewing experience. But what about spoilers? Thanks to the level of tweets about the Torchwood storyline last night #torchwood was joined by #Ianto in the trending topics. Anyone who is yet to see the five night special only has to log in to Twitter to find out what they are missing.

I am very adverse to spoilers. I caught the Harry Potter bug in between book …

Global Media and Iran

Last night Twitter exploded at the sad news of Michael Jackson’s death. It is impossible to deny, whatever your opinion on him as a person, that he was a musical legend. As I saw the tweets fly by I noticed one that mentioned Michael Jackson was all but one of the current trending topics …

I believe in the power and skill of the individual, regardless of gender, sexuality, race or religion. It is true that some businesses still make life hard for people to progress on one or more of these areas of discrimination, but that is where choice, personality, skill and drive come in.
I believe that if I had made the choice to stay in the career I was formally in I would have achieved …

What a twit!!!

I joined Twitter on the 4th February 2009. In the 131 days since I’ve found that Twitter has the marmite effect – people love it or hate it. It has provoked debate, discussion and almost argument both on Twitter and in real life. Work related Twitter (@DROdurham) has really caused a stir and split of opinions at work.
From a personal point of view I don’t understand why people feel the need to tell me I’m wasting my time or telling people too much about my life. Why do people care …

Marketing guru? Really?

Sometimes I think I have premature dementia (jokes aside, with our family genes it is a very real possibility!) As I go through my day I think of so many things to blog, but when I open my laptop most of them have long gone. The most frustrating thing is I can remember that I have forgotten things! Anyway there is one thing that I want to get off my chest, so I’ll go with that as blog topic of the day!
This morning I’ve been at a marketing event and …
